AUGUST 11, 2008 - In order for Student Groups to be eligible to request funds from the BRC for the July 2008- June 2009 (fiscal year), the treasurer of each student group must attend ONE BRC Workshop before requesting funds in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
If the treasurer is unable to attend a Workshop another Eboard member can attend in their place, however, this person is responsible for relaying all information given in the workshop.

Welcome To Our Newest Huskies

Greetings Huskies!

Congratulations on becoming part of the Northeastern community, and taking the first step towards the incredible experiences that await you. We are looking forward to the contributions you will make during your time here, and we are sure that you will become the next generation of student leaders, taking our organizations to new heights. Each of you comes to Northeastern with impressive arrays of accomplishments, being Student Council presidents, award-winning athletes, world travelers, and first-rate entrepreneurs. Our admission staff speaks endlessly of your accomplishments, and we know the best is yet to come.

As you begin your journey at Northeastern, we encourage you to take a moment to consider the vast opportunities that exist all around you. We have over two-hundred student groups, including advocacy bodies, Fraternities, Sororities, cultural organizations, honors societies, and college-specific clubs. With CAA Varsity sports, forty club sports, and a variety of competitive intramural sports, there are endless opportunities for you to develop your inner athlete, even if you have never played competitively. Every organization is unique and has a special place in the activities of the University. Depending on your interests, we are sure you will find the opportunity to become an active part of the Husky community, potentially becoming our next Student Body President.

Your experiences will prepare you to move beyond the campus, taking part in our co-op program, study abroad, or a variety of international opportunities. Our students have worked all over the globe, whether it is for a wealth management firm here in Boston or a children's hospital in South Africa. Our classrooms transcend our borders, preparing you to study abroad and taking you to a variety of countries where you have the chance to build on your education with an international perspective. The skills you learn, the relationships you build, and the experiences you have, both on and off the campus, will enhance your resume and truly put you miles ahead of the competition.

From your very first day on campus, you will learn that our organizations are much more than clubs, and that you will have an unparalleled opportunity to build leadership skills, make lasting friendships, and gain experience leading projects and possibly entire organizations. When interviewing for co-ops, you will be able to confidently discuss your accomplishments; when catching up with old friends, you will be able to speak endlessly about your experiences; and when looking back on your time in college, you will do so without regret, because you are a Husky.

I, and every member of the Student Government Association, will be available throughout the year as a resource. We are here to help you with any issues and concerns you may come across, and to offer advice as seasoned campus veterans. Feel free to email us at sga@neu.edu or to come by our office in 332 Curry Student Center (CSC). Our meetings are Mondays at 7pm in 333 CSC, and every student is always welcome.

Look forward to meeting you,

Rob Ranley
