The Onyx Informer has been in existence since 1972. Beginning as a monthly newspaper, the Onyx has since evolved into a bi-monthly magazine that seeks to capture the thoughts and feelings of students of color at Northeastern. Throughout its growth as a publication, there have been many times when it has ceased to print, but today the Onyx legacy remains strong as the only Northeastern publication for and by students of color.
The content of our publication embraces a wide variety of subjects that matter to people of color. We cover everything from entertainment and politics to campus news and poetry. Combined with the diverse experiences of our staff, we hope to interest you in becoming a part of the Onyx legacy by contributing to our publication.
We have covered several pressing issues such as the staggering increase of Black women with HIV/AIDS, the retention of minority faculty and staff here at Northeastern and the transformation of various cultural centers. We make it our mission to encompass content that can speak to the interests of everyone, regardless of race.
