Holocaust Awareness Committee Members, 2003-2004

History of the Holocaust Awareness Committee:
Over a decade ago, a disparate group of Northeastern individuals began talking to each other
about their despair born of the Holocaust and Nazi genocides and about their hope that there was
something of value to be learned and applied to present day societies.
This was the genesis of the Holocaust Awareness Committee.
From its inception, the committee has been open to all Northeastern individuals who wish
to serve. The result has been a diverse membership of students, staff, faculty and administrators
from all University colleges and schools. Committee members spring from a variety of religions
and ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Our diversity has been maintained successfully
because the Committee is grounded in the Spiritual Life Office
which, by its very nature, is a diverse and tolerant entity.
Everyone is welcome at the table, and while there are at times lively debates and disagreements
among our members, we share an unwavering consensus on the need to respect each other and
on the Committee's mission to educate the university community
about the Holocaust and Nazi genocides and their implications for today.
