Excell Walker is a natural at the cornerback spot. He has a good forward burst and breaks to the ball well. Walker should see plenty of playing time as he rivals another converted running back, William Griffin, for the left cornerback position. 1998: Started the year as a running back before making the move to defense...had 11 carries for 129 yards, including an 89-yard TD run, all in the fourth quarter of 41-7 blowout of Lafayette. 1997: Redshirt season. High School: Earned two letters in football, four in basketball and two in track at Reading High, alma mater of former NU quarterback great Jim Murphy...had standout senior year in football; named All-State, Boston Globe Division 2 Player of the Year and All-Scholastic by the Globe and Boston Herald...holds school game records for TDs (six) and rushing yards (257)...also was All-Scholastic in track as a senior...scored 1112 points for the hoop team (third on school's all-time list) and was captain as a senior.
