David Sofran has made himself into a go-to receiver. He had over 20 receptions last year, a lot of them big catches on third downs. A mature presence, Sofran leads by example, remains levelheaded through good times and bad, and possesses the leadership coaches admire. He will again be one of the team's primary punt returners this season and will join Andy Alsup and Klemic in the nucleus of the A10's top receiving corps. 1998: Caught 22 passes for 280 yards, good for third on the team...had four catches for 52 yards, including a 32-yard pass from Fred Vallett for his first career TD at William & Mary...caught four passes for 67 yards and a TD against James Madison...also a primary punt returner with 14 returns for 89 yards...averaged 33.5 all-purpose yards per game...named Atlantic 10 All-Academic for second straight year. 1997: Best game came at BU, catching three balls for 40 yards...handled nearly all the punt return duties, running back 33 of 34 punts...career-bests of six returns and 58 yards came against William & Mary...had career-long 29-yard punt return at Villanova. 1996: Had four catches for 34 yards at Delaware...returned three punts for 38 yards, including a 19-yarder versus BU. 1995: Redshirt season.
