Kyle Porter will move to center and take over starting snapping duties. It will be Porter's first year at the position after spending two seasons at tackle, but he is described by Coach Colombo as an intelligent lineman who has an excellent understanding of the team's offensive schemes. Regarded as NU's most improved lineman, Porter had a productive spring that convinced Coach Gallup to go with a first-year center. 1998: Played backup to Jon McRae at left tackle...nagged by knee injury. 1997: After redshirting the 1996 campaign, opened '97 as a reserve at left tackle...moved into starting role against Rhode Island, Delaware and William & Mary before knee injury ended his year. 1996: Redshirt season. High School: Earned letters in football and track at Barnstable High...as a senior offensive lineman, named Old Colony League All-Star, Boston Globe All-Scholastic and Cape Cod Times All-Star...helped lead Red Raiders to an 11-0 year and the Division IA Super Bowl title in final year; team was ranked No. 1 in Massachusetts and No. 2 in New England...a shot putter for track team. Personal: Born March 24, 1978...Education major...hopes to be a teacher and a coach...enjoys video games...Class of 2001.
