Andy McKenzie - Secondary/Recruiting Coordinator

Andy McKenzie begins his fourth season as an assistant at Northeastern, where his primary duties are directing the defensive backs and coordinating the team's recruiting. McKenzie's original role with the Huskies was helping out the D-backs and then his assignment was with the defensive line. Now he is back with the secondary, an area he learned plenty about from the other side of the ball. He has roots at Allegheny College (Meadville, Pa.), where he starred as a receiver and helped make the program into a Division III power. In addition to his specific roles, McKenzie has been involved in all day-to-day aspects of the team, including weight training, film breakdown and analysis, and offensive scout team coaching.

Before NU: Began coaching career by serving as graduate assistant at his alma mater, mainly helping to instruct the team's wide receivers...also responsible for scout team preparation and opponent tendency reports.

Playing Career: Had outstanding four years as wide receiver, setting nearly all of Allegheny's receiving records, including most catches and yards in a career...team had overall record of 38-6 from 1991-94...two-time, first team All-Conference pick...three-year starter...instrumental in three conference championship teams...won prestigious WMGW Coaches Award for leadership qualities on and off the field.

Personal: Born Jan. 20, 1973 and raised in Akron, N.Y....earned bachelor of arts degree in English from Allegheny in 1996...participated in youth area football clinics and volunteered for the local Special Olympics while at Allegheny...resides in Quincy.

Recruiting: NU's recruiting coordinator has main focus in upstate New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania.
