

Wally Dembowski - Defensive Line / Special TEams

In his first season with the Huskies, Wally Dembowski will coach the defensive line and coordinate the special teams. A member of the staff at Boston University for eight years, Dembowski ascended to the position of defensive coordinator for the program's final season of 1997. He moved on to become defensive coordinator at New Haven last season. Dembowski has many years of varied experience and is familiar with all aspects of the sport, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. He is an experienced recruiter who can help NU build its defense.
Before NU: Started as a tight end coach and offensive line assistant at BU and left as the last defensive coordinator and linebacker coach when the school dropped the program...was responsible for most recruiting and mined such areas as the Midwest, Southeast Florida, California, Eastern Pennsylvania and New England...spent 1998 season at University of New Haven as defensive coordinator...member of the American Football Coaches Association since 1992.
Playing Career: A star receiver for Holy Cross...earned All-East honors as a junior and senior...third team All-American senior year...graduated with a spot in the record books for second-most catches in a season....played football, basketball and baseball for Danvers High.
Personal: Born Feb. 19, 1966...Mass. product grew up in Danvers...received bachelor of arts degree in Economics from Holy Cross...currently resides in Malden, Mass. with wife Tracie...the couple is expecting a child this fall with a due date of Oct. 2, the day NU takes on Boston College.
Recruiting: Connecticut, Long Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont.
