Chris Degree has found a home at tight end after stops at wide receiver and defensive back. He will start the season in a backup role and a regular on special teams. A standout receiver in high school, Degree will see a lot of time in the slot during passing situations and he is very excited about his new role. Degree is the fastest of NU's tight ends and will complement starter Steve Arienta nicely. 1998: In his first active season, made three tackles in four games as a consistent contributor on special teams...a reserve at strong safety....first two tackles of his career came in NU win over Villanova...also had a special teams stop at James Madison. 1997: Redshirt season. High School: A football, basketball and track standout at Lowell High...selected as All-Merrimack Valley Conference and first team Lowell Sun All-Star as a senior...also received Merrimack Valley Player of the Year honorable mention from USA Today...won prestigious Ray Riddick Scholar-Athlete Award...high school teammate of Jeff Crowley, also a member of NU's '97 recruiting class.
