Steve Arienta has made the move from fullback to tight end, where he will be starting this year as Coach Gallup looks to put more emphasis on the position. Arienta's soft hands, commanding size and competitiveness will make him a great asset to the role. His versatility also will allow him to play some defensive end should any injuries occur. 1998: An excellent blocker as the team's primary fullback...a major reason why tailback L.J. McKanas was able to break the rookie rushing record...third on the team in kick returns with five for 43 yards. 1997: Began the season as a third-string defensive end but moved to fullback and assumed the starting job when Jeff Reale went down with a season-ending knee injury against Boston University in game seven...helped pave the way as the lead blocker for David Edmundson, who rushed for over 100 yards in four of the last five games...only touched the football three times all season...caught lone pass of the season for a two-point conversion against BU. 1996: Redshirt season. High School: A member of the football, wrestling and baseball teams at Parsippany Hills High...captained football team as a senior...named first team All-Conference, All-Area and All-County...second team All-American...named one of Top 100 football players in New Jersey...played in the East-West All-Star Game...holds school marks for most tackles in a season (154) and stops in a game (19). Personal: Born May 2, 1978...enjoys weightlifting...Criminal Justice major...Class of 2001. Career Highs: Tackles, 2 (two times)...Rushing Attempts, 1 (two times).
