Iota Gamma Chapter

Iota Gamma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. started as an interest group on the campus of Northeastern University under the name the Black Jewels. The twelve members of this group were:

On June 7,1974, these women were initiated into AKA. They were joined by Sorors:
Cheryl Davis Donna Mancrief    Gertrude Rose 

on June 8,1974 when Iota Gamma Chapter received its charter.

These women laid a foundation upon which the present Sorors of Iota Gamma Chapter have continued to build through their work with the Mary McLeod Bethune Institute, E.Benjamin Nursing Home, Families in Transition, the Fenway Project, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, and the Tobin Community Center.
